Night Prey is an enjoyable read for its intriguing storyline, well-crafted prose, and satisfying suspense.
Keith, a recovering war vet, wants peace and quiet for the summer while he helps his grandparents around their farm. When the summer is over, he intends to leave—unless he can convince Jenna to risk her heart again.
Sharon Dunn offers a suspenseful tale of second chances, for the birds Jenna rescues and returns to the wild, and for Jenna herself with her old flame, Keith. The story looks at choices made and consequences earned, but as Dunn brings Jenna and Keith together, it becomes apparent that some second chances are worth whatever risk might be associated.
Dunn keeps the suspense high, the devious culprit not apparent until nearly the end. I didn’t quite buy how quickly Jenna goes from not wanting anything to do with Keith to deciding to give him a chance, considering how adamant she is up to the point of decision. But beyond that,Night Prey is an enjoyable read for its intriguing storyline, well-crafted prose, and satisfying suspense.
